Underage drinking and its consequences is preventable. Tackling it requires the involvement of every concerned citizen, from parents to teachers to coaches to youth. You can take action to make your community a healthier and safer place. Join a growing number of people across the nation who are working to address underage drinking and social hosting in their communities.
If you want to get involved, reach out to the following to find out what they are doing about underage drinking and social hosting:
- Your child’s school administrator
- Your state substance abuse agency
- Your state agency that deals with drunk driving
- A local chapter of MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving
- A substance abuse prevention coalition and/or a Drug-Free Communities grantee
- Your local law enforcement agency
- Media outlets
- The faith community
- A local law office for legal counsel
After you find out from these organizations what they are doing, ask if you can get involved. Also, contact other adults and ask them to get involved as well.
